Leonard O. "Goldie" Goldhart

Leonard O. “Goldie” Goldhart, 92, of Albion, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 26, 2019.  He was born in Greenville, PA on March 16, 1926, the son of the late Raymond O. and Florence M. Goldhart.  Leonard enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II.  He was stationed at Kodiak, Alaska.  In 1949 he married Phyllis M. Fobes.  They were married for 69 years.  Leonard retired from Rodger Brothers.  He enjoyed bowling, bridge club, and working with his horses on the farm.  He was preceded in death by his son, L. Wayne Goldhart, a brother, Robert Goldhart, and his sisters Florence Allen and Dorothy McCauley.  He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, and his children, Pamela Lasher and her husband, John, from Albion, PA, Susan Smith and her husband, Sam, from Juneau, AK, and Cara Hetzer and her husband, Don, from Batavia, OH, and a daughter-in-law, Barb Goldhart of Winter Haven, FL.  He has eight grandchildren, Sean Lasher (Laurel-lin), Sara Kilburn (Korey), Rachael Hetzer, Jennifer Hetzer, Joe Hetzer, Jake Hetzer, Jessica Sevening, and Kelsey Goldhart.  He has three great grandchildren, Ian Sevening, Piper Buskirk, and Damien Javens.  He is also survived by sisters, Betty Jane Middleton and Martha Hawk and many nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to thank Lakeland Hospice:  Leslie, Sarah, John, and Janelle for their comfort and care.  Visitation will be held in Boyd Hall at Grace United Methodist Church in Albion on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10am until the time of the funeral service there at 12pm with Pastor Duk Hee Han officiating.  Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 49 Franklin Street, Albion, PA  16401.  The Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, is handling the funeral arrangements.  To light a memory candle or leave a condolence, please visit www.matterafuneralhome.com
