Edmond C. Galloway

Edmond C. Galloway (87) passed away peacefully at Forest View Skilled Nursing Center on Thursday, April 12, 2018.  He was born in Albion, Pennsylvania on December 3, 1930, a son of the late James D. Galloway and the Late Mabel A. Griffis Galloway.  After graduating from Albion High School he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 29th Regimental Combat Team as a Corporal and a Squad Leader.  He married Ruth McClain in 1958 and enjoyed a happy marriage until her death in 2008.  He was employed at the Louis Marx Company for 30 years.  Following that, he worked at Albion Elements until his retirement at 80 years of age.  He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Albion and he was a frequent donor at the Community Blood Bank, where he was recognized for a 10 gallon achievement.  In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald N. Galloway.  Survivors include his niece, Karen (Kenneth) Minns and nephews, William (Debra) Galloway, and David (Sharon) Galloway, and his close cousin and friend, Jane Long of Somers, NY.  Ed’s family would like to thank the staff at Forest View Skilled Nursing Center and Independence Court for their care of Ed.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake Erie Hospice or the American Cancer Society.  Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Additional calling hours be held Wednesday morning at the Albion Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service there at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Hennen officiating.  Burial will follow in Albion Cemetery.  To send flowers, light a memory candle or leave a condolence, please visit

I am saddened that Ed is no longer with us but I rejoice that his suffering is over.
