Mildred M. Kitchen

Mildred M. Kitchen, 93, of Cranesville, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.  Mildred was born in Thorpe, West Virginia, on November 21, 1924, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Mastalski) Nesgoda.   Mildred was a member of the Edinboro/McKean VFW Post#740.  She loved painting, embroidering and gardening, and she was an avid reader.  In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard Kitchen, an infant son, Richard Jay Kitchen, four sisters, Mary Kloss, Helen Sulewski, Katherine Szczesny, and Viola Nesgoda, and four brothers, Joe Nesgoda, Albert Nesgoda, Walter Nesgoda and John Nesgoda.  She is survived by seven children, Richard J. Kitchen Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Florida, Ann Marie Gollmer and her husband, John, of Cranesville, Patrick Lee Kitchen and his wife, Judy, of Delaware, David Lee Kitchen and his wife, Dianna, of Erie, PA, Anthony Rae Kitchen of Albion, Donald Edward Kitchen and his wife, Kim, of Texas, and John Robert Kitchen and his husband, Bill, of Erie, PA.  Also surviving are 40 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  Calling hours will be held at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Hennen officiating.  Burial will be private in Albion Cemetery with her husband.  Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 2253 W.
