Ann Yazembiak

Ann Yazembiak

Ann Hlivko Yazembiak, 93, of Albion, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at Pleasant
Ridge Manor after a short illness.  She was born September 12, 1924 at home in Platea, PA, a daughter of the late George and Anna (TsaPik) Hlivko.  She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Pageville.  She worked at C.G. Woods in Girard and many other places, retiring at the age of 75.  Ann was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she loved to spend time with her family and her joy was her grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Nicholas Yazembiak, a daughter Mary, a sister Helen Kramer, a brother Joe Hlivko, and a daughter-in-law Paulean Yazembiak.  She is survived by her two sons, John Yazembiak and his wife, Patty, of Albion, Nicholas (Nick) Yazembiak of Platea.  She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren, John Michael Yazembiak of Saegertown, Charles David Yazembiak and his wife, Jenna, of West Springfield, Theresa Knieriem and her husband, Howard, of Ohio, six great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Lily, Chloe and Coleman Yazembiak, Mickayla Knieriem, Cody Knieriem and his wife, Brianna, one sister, Betty Cook of Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.  Ann loved her time with family and she also enjoyed bingo, crocheting, reading and doing crossword puzzles.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Pleasant Ridge Manor for the love and wonderful compassionate care over these few months, especially Tiffany, and many others, for taking care of our mom.  Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Pageville Road, on Friday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Seraphim Wing officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion.  To send flowers, leave a condolence or light a memory candle, please visit

Patty , John and John, I am sorry for your loss. I only met Ann just a couple of years ago but she was a very nice and sincere lady. Again I am sorry for your loss and not being able to make the service today.
