Mattera Funeral Home Order Flowers

Curtis “Curt” Atkin, 67, of Cranesville, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 after an illness.  He was born October 17, 1950 in Erie, a son of the late Wilbur and Iris (Oyler) Atkin.  Curt served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired as a truck driver.  He was a member of the Fairview American Legion and the Siebenbuerger Club in Erie.  Curt enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, riding his tractor, and he loved “tinkering” in his garage.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Curtis Lee Atkin, and a nephew, Jeremy Atkin.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karen (Laddy) Atkin, whom he married April 4, 1980, a daughter, Trisha Pratt and her husband, Robert, of Erie, two grandchildren, Lilly and Lucas Pratt, two beloved nieces, Jana Thompson and her husband, Andrew, of Erie, Paula Jo Perry and her husband, James, and their son, Oliver, all of Cleveland, OH, eight brothers and sisters, Wilbur “Cork” Atkin and his wife, Zenny, of San Antonio, TX, Karen Starcher of Elkhart, IN, Earl “Butch” Atkin and his wife, Sandy, of Saegertown, PA, Dennis Atkin and his wife, Valerie, of Cambridge Springs, PA, Dale Atkin and his wife, Renee, of Venango, PA, Denise Rodgers and her husband, Bill, of Inman, SC, Doris Atkin Troutner and Margaret Atkin, both of Cambridge Springs, PA.  Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  No calling hours will be observed.  A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.  The family respectfully asks for no flowers, but for donations to be made in honor of Curt to the Disabled American Veterans, DAV, 4219 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA  17011 or to the American Cancer Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA  16508.  The Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, PA, is handling the funeral arrangements.  To light a memory candle or leave a condolence please visit www.matterafuneralhome.com

Dear Karen, I am so very sorry for your lose. Curt was always to very nice to me and I always enjoyed seeing you both. Please know that I am thinking of you during this very hard time in your life and that I am praying for you. Know that Curt may not be with you physically with you but he will be keeping a loving eye out for you and your entire family until your are all reunited again in heaven.
