Ann Smith

Ann Smith, 97, formerly of Albion, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville.  She was born March 17, 1920 in Monessen, PA, a daughter of the late Matthew and Katherine (Krajnak) Stickner.  Ann was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Crossingville, where she was a member of the Altar Society and where she loved to volunteer for anything.  She also enjoyed flower gardening and cooking, especially her world famous pierogis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Smith, three sisters, Helen Breese, Mary Gall, Olga Sveda, and five brothers, Nick, Matthew, Michael, William and Andrew Stickner.  Ann is survived by a son, Larry Smith and his wife, Diana, of Williamsburg, VA, two sisters, Elsie Gladd of Lexington, KY and Agnes Cryder of Jersey Shore, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Calling hours will be held at S.S. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 25636 North Mosiertown Road, Crossingville, on Friday from 6-8 p.m., followed by a Panikhida Service at 8 p.m.  A service of Christian Burial will be held at the church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Mathewson officiating.  Burial will follow in S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in honor of Ann to S.S. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 25636 North Mosiertown Road, Edinboro, PA  16412, or to the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, 19 Smock Ave., Albion, PA  16401.  The Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, is handling the funeral arrangements.  To send flowers, light a memory candle or leave a condolence, please visit www.matterafuneralhome.com
